Bengaluru Techie’s Tragic Death: Estranged Wife and Family Under Investigation

Bengaluru police are actively investigating the alleged suicide of 34-year-old Atul Subhash, a resident of Munnekollal, who was found dead in his apartment on Monday. His brother filed a complaint accusing Subhash’s estranged wife Nikita Singhania and her family of harassment, alleging they demanded ₹3 crore to drop cases against him and ₹30 lakh for visitation rights to their son. The Marathahalli police have booked Nikita, her mother Nisha, brother Anurag, and uncle Sushil Singhania for abetment of suicide. Meanwhile, a team has been dispatched to Uttar Pradesh to locate the accused, who reportedly fled their residence in Jaunpur late Wednesday night.

Police sources confirmed that video footage shows the accused leaving their home around midnight, prompting a search operation. While Bengaluru authorities are collaborating with Uttar Pradesh police, the accused family denies the allegations, citing ongoing legal battles between the couple, including a dowry harassment case filed by Nikita in 2022. Sushil Singhania, named in the complaint, claimed that the accusations against his family are baseless and that Nikita is prepared to present her side in court. This case has reignited debates about the misuse of legal systems in domestic disputes.

As the investigation unfolds, the Bengaluru police aim to piece together the events leading to Subhash’s death. Meanwhile, voices from both sides demand a thorough and impartial probe. Subhash’s death and his alleged last wishes highlight concerns about mental health struggles and the societal impact of prolonged legal and personal conflicts.
