In a major political development ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election, Congress leader Ali Masqati and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Shakeela Reddy officially joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday, October 14. The induction took place in the presence of BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), who welcomed both leaders into the party fold. The move is being viewed as a strategic boost for BRS as it aims to strengthen its prospects in the upcoming by-election.
Ali Masqati, who currently serves as the Managing Partner of Masqati Dairy Products, had joined the Congress party in October 2023. Before his stint with Congress, Masqati was associated with the Telugu Desam Party, where he held key responsibilities and maintained a strong political presence. His decision to join BRS marks yet another shift in his political journey, reflecting the dynamic alignments taking place ahead of the crucial by-election.
Ali Masqati hails from a prominent political family—his father, Ibrahim bin Abdullah Masqati, served as a two-term MLA representing the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) before his passing in 2015. With the inclusion of both Masqati and Shakeela Reddy, KTR expressed confidence that their leadership and local influence would significantly contribute to the party’s strength and outreach in the region, particularly in Hyderabad’s key constituencies like Jubilee Hills.
