Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi tragically passed away due to gunshot injuries, reportedly caused by an accidental discharge from his licensed pistol. The incident occurred around midnight, and Gogi was declared dead upon arrival at DMC Hospital in Ludhiana. Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskaran Singh Teja revealed that the family stated the gun accidentally fired, causing fatal head injuries. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received.
Deputy Commissioner Jaskaran Singh added that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will emerge as evidence is examined. Gurpreet Gogi, a prominent leader, had joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2022 and rose to prominence by defeating two-time Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu in the Ludhiana assembly elections. His untimely demise has left a void in Punjab’s political landscape and his constituency, Ludhiana West.
