Montana Bar Shooting Leaves Four Dead, Manhunt Underway for Armed Suspect

A deadly shooting at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana, has left four people dead and triggered a massive manhunt for the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Michael Paul Brown. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM local time, according to the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation. Brown, described as armed and dangerous, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Authorities have urged residents of Anaconda to remain indoors, lock their doors, and immediately contact 911 if they spot the suspect. The ATF and FBI are both assisting in the investigation, while local police, SWAT units, and drones have been deployed in the search effort.

The suspect was last seen wearing a tie-dyed shirt, blue jeans, and an orange bandana. Law enforcement agencies, including the Granite County Sheriff’s Office, have searched Brown’s residence, which has been cleared by SWAT teams. Officials believe he is still within the vicinity of Anaconda, a town of roughly 10,000 people located 109 miles west of Bozeman. The Owl Bar, built in 1893 and situated in Anaconda’s Goosetown neighborhood, has long been a local landmark. The tragic shooting has shaken this close-knit community, which is better known for its copper smelting history than violent crime.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte and Senator Steve Daines have both spoken out in the aftermath of the tragedy, expressing condolences and pledging support to law enforcement. “Please join Susan and me in praying for the victims, their loved ones, and the brave law enforcement officers responding to this tragedy,” the governor posted on social media. Daines confirmed that the ongoing manhunt is being assisted by aerial surveillance and drone technology to expedite the search. As the investigation continues, federal and state agencies are coordinating efforts to ensure public safety and bring the suspect into custody without further harm.
