In a swift and precise operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Digwar sector of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army troops neutralised two terrorists who attempted to cross over from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The incident occurred early Wednesday when alert soldiers spotted suspicious movement along the fence. According to official reports, troops challenged the intruders immediately after they crossed the LoC and launched an anti-infiltration operation, leading to the death of both infiltrators. The Army recovered three weapons during the operation, underscoring the potential scale of the planned attack. Intelligence inputs from military units and Jammu & Kashmir Police (JKP) played a crucial role in the success of this mission.
The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the incident through a social media post, stating that “swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs” of the infiltrators. This development comes just days after three Pakistani terrorists were killed in a joint Army-police operation in Srinagar’s Dachigam forests. Those individuals were allegedly involved in the deadly April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 25 tourists and one local resident. The security forces have intensified counter-infiltration operations along the LoC in recent weeks as militant activity sees a resurgence, with agencies working in tandem to intercept any cross-border threats before they escalate.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, reiterated the region’s unwavering stance on counterterrorism, affirming that such infiltration attempts would be dealt with firmly and consistently. He stated that security forces were determined to continue operations until all threats were neutralised. The Poonch operation highlights the evolving challenges faced by the armed forces in securing the volatile border areas and reflects a broader strategic shift toward preemptive intelligence-driven interventions.
