The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has postponed its Maha Dharna in Mahabubabad, initially planned for November 21, following the police’s last-minute denial of permission. The protest aimed to address the concerns of tribals and farmers in Lagcherla over a contentious land acquisition dispute. In response, the BRS announced plans to approach the High Court to seek authorization for a larger-scale protest involving over 50,000 participants.
BRS MLC and former minister Satyavathi Rathod accused the Congress government of suppressing dissent and protecting alleged land-grabbing activities. She criticized police officials for acting as “agents of the Congress” and warned of consequences when BRS returns to power. Rathod highlighted that despite denying permission for a peaceful protest, authorities failed to take action against Congress legislators threatening violence against BRS members. She called for continued public support to expose injustices faced by marginalized communities.
The Maha Dharna was expected to involve significant participation from tribal groups, civil rights organizations, and party workers, aiming to bring attention to the alleged injustices. Rathod emphasized that the protest would be organized on an even larger scale in the future, ensuring that the voices of tribals and farmers are heard.
