Delhi LG Proposes Sept 21 Swearing-in of CM-designate Atishi

Delhi Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena has proposed September 21 for the swearing-in of chief minister-designate Atishi. This comes after Atishi’s letter staking claim to form the government in Delhi was forwarded to President Droupadi Murmu. Once President Murmu accepts the letter, Atishi will be invited to form the government, and a special session of the Delhi Assembly will be held on September 26-27, where Atishi is expected to prove her majority.

Atishi, a prominent AAP leader, served as Advisor to Manish Sisodia when he was Education Minister and later as Education Minister herself. She played a pivotal role in revamping the state of education in government-run schools in Delhi. Atishi will be the third woman chief minister of Delhi, after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit.

Alongside Atishi, six other Cabinet ministers are expected to take their oaths. The new Cabinet may include two fresh faces, with speculation surrounding the inclusion of a Dalit face. Outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Cabinet submitted their resignations to the L-G, who forwarded them to President Murmu for final approval. Kejriwal is expected to give up all facilities provided to him as Chief Minister and live a more modest life.
