The Telangana government has embarked on an ambitious project to transform the Musi River into a thriving tourist destination. The Musi Riverfront Development Project aims to revitalize the river, inspired by London’s Thames River, with an estimated cost of Rs. 1.50 lakh crore. This 36-month project will establish commercial and recreational corridors along the river, breathing new life into Hyderabad’s scenic landscape.
Over 12,000 encroachments have been identified within the river’s FTL and buffer zones, spanning 25 kilometers from Narsingi to Nagole Bridge. To address this, the government will provide Indiramma houses to affected families before demolishing these structures. HYDRA will oversee the removal of illegal constructions, including sheds and godowns, to make way for the river’s development.
