Sindhudurg, July 25, 2024: In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old woman was found chained to a tree in a forest in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was discovered by a shepherd in Sonurli village, approximately 450 kilometers from Mumbai.
The shepherd heard the woman’s cries for help on Saturday evening and immediately alerted the local police. Upon arrival, officers found her tied to the tree with an iron chain. A photocopy of her US passport and other documents, including an Aadhaar card with a Tamil Nadu address, were recovered from her.
“The woman was taken to a hospital in Sawantwadi in the state’s Konkan region and then transferred to Oros in Sindhudurg. Considering her mental and health condition, she was moved to Goa Medical College for advanced treatment. She is out of danger. Doctors treating her said she suffers from psychiatric problems. We have found medical prescriptions in her possession,” stated a police official.
The woman’s current condition is stable, and she is receiving the necessary medical care. Authorities are investigating how she ended up in such a dire situation and are working to contact her family based on the documents recovered.
