HYDRAA Seals Seven Illegal Borewells, Demolishes Water Infrastructure in Tellapur

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has intensified its action against illegal groundwater extraction by sealing seven unauthorised borewells in Tellapur. The operation was carried out after officials found that the borewells had been drilled illegally in the Sangareddy district. As part of the enforcement drive, HYDRAA also registered cases against those involved and launched further action to curb unlawful water extraction activities.

During the operation, authorities demolished six illegally constructed water sumps and seized several water tankers allegedly being used to transport groundwater extracted without permission. Officials said the crackdown is aimed at protecting rapidly depleting groundwater resources and preventing the commercial exploitation of water through unauthorised borewells. The agency has warned that strict action will continue against individuals or organisations violating groundwater regulations.

HYDRAA stated that the initiative is intended to safeguard public access to water and ensure sustainable use of groundwater resources across the Hyderabad region. The agency is also monitoring illegal drilling activities and the movement of private water tankers following complaints from residents about reckless driving and the arbitrary sale of water. Officials have appealed to the public to report any illegal borewell operations, assuring that similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks.
