An Air India flight travelling from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi encountered severe mid-air turbulence on Tuesday, leaving 12 people injured. According to the airline, flight AI2379 experienced a brief turbulence-related event during its cruise phase, causing a sudden change in altitude. Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, where all passengers and crew members disembarked without any major complications.

Initial reports indicate that 10 passengers and 2 cabin crew members sustained injuries during the turbulence. Air India clarified that no serious injuries have been reported. A small number of those affected were taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary medical examinations and treatment. The airline said its airport team and medical personnel are providing all necessary assistance to the injured while ensuring support for everyone affected by the incident.

Flight-tracking data also showed that the Airbus A320 briefly lost altitude before its arrival in Delhi, consistent with the turbulence event. Air India stated that it is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities as the incident is being investigated. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and said it will continue extending support to those impacted while authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the in-flight turbulence.
