Telangana Woman Shocked After Receiving Rs 1.27 Crore Electricity Bill

A woman in Telangana’s Suryapet district was left stunned after receiving an electricity bill amounting to an astonishing Rs 1.27 crore. The incident took place in Kottha Tanda village of Palakeedu Mandal, where Ramavath Rani received the unusually high bill from the power department. The amount immediately raised concerns as the family’s regular electricity consumption is relatively low and falls within the limits of the state government’s free electricity scheme.

According to reports, Rani’s husband, Ramavath Ravi, had obtained the electricity connection in her name. Ravi stated that the household consumes less than 200 units of electricity, making them eligible for free power benefits provided by the Telangana government. Surprised by the massive bill, he approached the local electricity department representative for clarification. Officials initially suspected that a technical fault in the meter or a billing system error could have caused the abnormal reading.

The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with many users expressing disbelief over the crore-rupee bill. Following the public reaction, electricity department officials assured the family that the bill was likely generated due to an error. Authorities said they would thoroughly examine the electricity consumption records and meter details before issuing a corrected bill. The department has also assured the couple that the issue will be resolved after verification of the actual power usage.
