Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra conducted a surprise inspection at a paddy procurement centre in Pedakaparthi village, directing officials to speed up operations and clear pending stock. He emphasized improving unloading at rice mills, increasing vehicle movement, and accelerating transportation from procurement centres. Officials were also instructed to deploy additional lorries and labour to manage the rising workload efficiently.
During the visit, the Commissioner reviewed key operational details including the quantity of paddy received, availability of workers, vehicle linkage with rice mills, and stock of essential materials like tarpaulins. Officials reported that 25,000 quintals of paddy had reached the centre, of which 7,000 quintals had already been processed, while a significant volume still remained. To handle this backlog, arrangements have been made to add 10–20 more lorries, along with deploying around 30 hamalis per centre to boost handling capacity.
Later, Ravindra inspected operations at Siddhartha Rice Industries in Vattimarthy, where he reviewed unloading speed, labour deployment, and digital record updates. He instructed authorities to ensure complete tab entries, improve system-based data uploads, and shift excess paddy to intermediate godowns if storage becomes an issue. The focus, he made clear, is simple—stop delays, move stock faster, and prevent bottlenecks before they spiral into a larger procurement crisis.
