Rajasthan Likely to See Rising Temperatures as Rainfall and Thunderstorm Activity Declines

The India Meteorological Department has predicted a gradual decline in rainfall and thunderstorm activity across Rajasthan over the coming days, while temperatures are expected to rise sharply in several regions. According to the regional meteorological centre in Jaipur, most parts of the state will witness an increase of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures during the next three to four days. However, some north-eastern districts may continue to experience partly cloudy skies and light rainfall at isolated places for the next few days.

Weather officials have also warned that temperatures in the border areas of Jodhpur division could touch nearly 45 degrees Celsius by May 9, increasing the risk of fresh heatwave conditions in western Rajasthan. In addition to the extreme heat, dusty winds are likely to affect Jodhpur division and nearby regions from May 7 onward, creating difficult weather conditions for residents and travelers across the area.

Despite the forecast of rising temperatures, parts of Rajasthan recorded light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms during the last 24 hours. Sumerpur in Pali district received the highest rainfall of 26 mm, while Barmer recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 41.7 degrees Celsius. The changing weather pattern indicates a transition from storm activity to intense summer heat across large parts of the state in the coming days.
