₹2,360 Cr Zaheerabad Smart City Project to Kick Off on May 10, Promises Jobs Boost

Union minister G Kishan Reddy announced that Telangana is set to receive a major industrial push with the upcoming Zaheerabad Integrated Industrial Smart City. The foundation stone for the project will be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 10. The project, part of the larger Hyderabad–Nagpur Industrial Corridor, is estimated to cost ₹2,360.54 crore and is being positioned as a key development initiative for the region.

Spread across 3,245 acres, the smart city is planned as a modern industrial hub with advanced infrastructure and sector-specific zones. Key industries identified include logistics, auto components, electrical and electronics, machinery, metals, non-metallic minerals, and food processing. Alongside industrial facilities, the project will also include residential and commercial areas, as well as schools and training institutes to support workforce development.

The government claims the project could attract investments exceeding ₹10,000 crore and generate around 1.74 lakh jobs by 2029. If executed properly, it has the potential to transform Zaheerabad into a major manufacturing and logistics center. However, like most large-scale announcements, the real test will be execution, timelines, and whether these projections actually materialize on the ground.
