Hyderabad Police Conduct Operation Kavach in Old City, Seize Vehicles and Illegal Items

Hyderabad police carried out Operation Kavach in the Old City area and seized several vehicles during a special night drive on Wednesday, December 24. The operation was conducted at Puranapul with the objective of disarming anti-social elements and taking action against illegal activities, including vehicles plying without registration number plates.

During the drive, police teams also inspected an illegal belt shop in the Puranapul area and seized liquor bottles from the premises. The checks were part of intensified surveillance to curb unlawful movement and prevent crimes, particularly during late-night hours when such incidents tend to increase.

South Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Kiran Khare said the operation was aimed at instilling confidence among the public and restricting the movement of antisocial elements. “Young men under the influence of drugs are roaming at night and attacking people with weapons over trivial issues. Our goal is to prevent such incidents through proactive policing,” he said.

Operation Kavach was launched by the Hyderabad police earlier this month to crack down on anti-social activities such as drug trafficking, hawala transactions and other crimes. Under the initiative, around 5,000 police personnel were deployed at 150 strategic locations across the city. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar personally supervised vehicle checks in the Old City and later reviewed the law and order situation through CCTV surveillance at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills.
