A shocking incident rocked Khammam district on Friday morning when CPM leader and former state general secretary of the Farmers’ Association, Samineni Rama Rao, was brutally hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Patharlapadu village under Chinthakani mandal. According to reports, the 65-year-old leader had stepped out for his regular morning walk when a group of attackers ambushed him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot. The murder has triggered tension in the area, forcing authorities to deploy additional police forces to prevent any untoward incidents.
Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt immediately reached the crime scene, conducted an inspection, and met the bereaved family. Senior CPM members including Potineni Sudarshan and Ponnam Venkateshwara Rao visited Patharlapadu to console the grieving relatives and demand swift justice. Rama Rao was a well-known figure in the district, having previously served as the state secretary of the Farmers’ Association twice and as the Sarpanch of his village. His murder has sparked outrage among party workers and local residents alike.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka expressed deep shock and condemnation over the killing, calling it an attack on democratic values. He assured that the perpetrators would be traced and punished strictly under law, emphasizing that Telangana has no space for violent politics. As the investigation intensifies, the motive behind Rama Rao’s killing remains unclear, but officials suspect political rivalry or personal enmity as possible angles.
