Tension gripped Wadi-e-Mustafa in Pahadishareef on Friday evening after a local electrician named Jameel was brutally attacked with a knife by a resident, Babu Jani, following an argument over a prolonged power outage. According to police, Jameel had been working with a TGSPDCL lineman to repair a faulty electricity transformer that had caused repeated blackouts throughout the day. Frustrated by the continued delay, Jani confronted the electrician, accusing him of negligence, which quickly escalated into a heated altercation between the two.
Eyewitnesses reported that both men exchanged blows before bystanders intervened and separated them. However, the dispute took a violent turn shortly afterward when Jameel approached the area near Jani’s residence to inspect the transformer again. Enraged, Jani allegedly emerged from his house armed with a knife and attacked Jameel, leaving him with deep bleeding injuries. The injured electrician was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that his condition was stable but required stitches and observation.
Upon receiving the information, Balapur police swiftly reached the scene and arrested the accused, booking him under relevant sections for assault and attempt to murder. Investigators said the attack stemmed from public frustration over repeated power failures, which had sparked tempers across the locality. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid taking law enforcement into their own hands and assured that TGSPDCL is addressing the root cause of the frequent outages. The incident serves as yet another reminder of how civic inconveniences, if mishandled, can dangerously escalate into acts of violence.
