In a bid to make responsible driving a social movement, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has launched the #SafeRideChallenge, a creative digital campaign aimed at promoting helmet use and seat belt awareness. Through this initiative, motorists are encouraged to post a short video or selfie before their ride — showing themselves wearing helmets or fastening seat belts — and tag three friends to do the same. The idea is to turn road safety into a viral social trend, especially among the city’s youth and daily commuters.
Commissioner Sajjanar emphasized that “Safety never goes out of style,” urging citizens to make safety their daily habit. “Every ride begins with a choice to protect yourself and those you love,” he said, adding that the campaign aims to make safety “the coolest trend of 2025.” The challenge focuses on three key actions — fastening seat belts, wearing helmets, and inspiring others to follow. By leveraging social media, the police hope to create a ripple effect of awareness and positive behavior among road users.
Over the past year, Hyderabad Police have embraced digital innovation to build civic responsibility through creative outreach programs. The #SafeRideChallenge continues this approach by merging technology, community participation, and public safety into one engaging initiative. With growing online participation, the campaign is expected to transform responsible driving into not just a rule, but a lifestyle statement across the city.
