Telangana BJP Chief N. Ramchander Rao Allegedly Placed Under House Arrest Ahead of Protest at CM Revanth Reddy’s Residence

In a fresh escalation of political tensions in Telangana, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that its president, N. Ramchander Rao, was placed under house arrest on Saturday. According to the party, the move was aimed at preventing a planned protest outside the residence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. BJP leaders claimed that police restrictions were imposed deliberately to block their demonstration against the Congress party’s role in the defeat of the women’s reservation bill in Parliament.

Despite the restrictions, Rao maintained that the BJP would continue its agitation and would not back down from its campaign. He sharply criticized the Congress, calling the defeat of the Constitution Amendment Bill a “black day” and accusing the party of denying women fair representation in legislatures. The proposed bill aimed to introduce 33% reservation for women and increase the total number of Lok Sabha seats, but failed to secure the required two-thirds majority in Parliament, triggering strong reactions from BJP leaders across the country.

Calling for wider public participation, Rao urged women in Telangana to oppose the Congress and hold its leaders accountable. The BJP has announced that protests will continue as part of a broader nationwide campaign against the bill’s rejection. Meanwhile, the developments have intensified the political climate in the state, with both parties trading sharp accusations as the issue of women’s representation takes center stage in ongoing political discourse.
