In Rajanna-Sircilla district’s Rudrangi mandal — the native village of Government Whip and local MLA Adi Srinivas — farmers faced a gruelling wait until late night on Friday to receive their allotment of urea. Many had arrived at the Rythu Seva Kendram by afternoon, but even by 10 p.m., the distribution had not begun for several of them. The crowd included a number of women farmers, who said they had no option but to remain at the centre despite the late hour.
Several farmers voiced frustration, alleging that this was not the first such delay. Over the past month, they had visited the Rythu Seva Kendram multiple times, only to return empty-handed. Some compared the current scenario unfavourably with the previous BRS government, stating that during K Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure, fertilisers and other farm inputs were supplied in a timely manner. Under the present Congress-led administration, they said, the situation had deteriorated, causing hardship during a crucial farming period.
Women farmers in particular expressed anger over the repeated delays. Many explained that they had to leave their children at home to make the trip to Rudrangi, hoping for a quick collection. Instead, they were forced to wait well into the night, uncertain about how they would return to their villages safely. The repeated inconvenience, they said, was not only exhausting but also affected their farm work schedules during an already challenging agricultural season.
