Udaipur Collector Seeks Cancellation of Land Allotment for Madrasa

The Udaipur district collector has requested the revenue department to cancel the land allotment for a madrasa in Mavli town, following a report from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). The SDM’s report cited several reasons for the cancellation, including the land’s history of communal disputes and its connection to a court judgment regarding catchment area restoration.

The land was originally allotted to Madarsa Islamiya Gausiya Anjuman in 2022 by the Udaipur collector during the previous Congress government’s rule, sparking demands from Hindu organizations for cancellation. Local BJP leader Rajesh Chaplot claimed that the land was allotted under pressure from the Congress government, leading to resentment among Hindu communities.

The Udaipur collector, Arvind Poswal, stated that the letter to the revenue department was written based on the SDM’s report, which highlighted reasons for the cancellation, including the area’s high Hindu population and the presence of a high-tension line.
