Hyderabad witnessed intense thunderstorms and heavy rain spells across several parts of the city on Wednesday evening, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that light to moderate rains with occasional heavy showers will continue across the GHMC limits for the next two to three hours. Areas such as Khairtabad, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Charminar, Rajendranagar, Uppal, and LB Nagar are expected to experience significant rainfall during this period. Residents have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid low-lying routes prone to flooding.

According to local weather enthusiast T. Balaji, the rainfall pattern has intensified in the city’s western and southern zones, particularly near Golconda, Bahadurpura, and Chandrayangutta. Hyderabad Traffic Police reported waterlogging near Panjagutta Graveyard, causing slow vehicle movement on busy stretches, while traffic between Ayodhya and VV Statue was heavily congested due to rain and peak-hour rush. Commuters have been urged to take alternate routes and follow live traffic updates shared by the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Traffic Police on social media.

The Cyberabad police also issued an alert warning of moderate to heavy rainfall in Shaikpet, Nanakramguda, and Rajendranagar till 6:00 pm, urging motorists to exercise caution. Officials said emergency response teams have been placed on standby to clear waterlogged roads and assist commuters. With more rain predicted through the evening, authorities have advised residents to stay indoors where possible and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
