The prime accused in the shocking Shabad sextuple murder case, Raj Kumar, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide while evading arrest, according to sources. Police reportedly rushed him to a hospital under tight security, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Officials have not yet released an update on his medical condition, and an official statement regarding the incident is still awaited.
Raj Kumar, a resident of Daivalaguda village in Shabad mandal of Ranga Reddy district, is accused of killing six people during the night of July 10–11. Investigators believe the murders were carried out in revenge after a case was registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police said the case was filed in May after a 17-year-old girl accused him of sexually harassing her, following which he was arrested and later released on bail.
According to the investigation, Raj Kumar allegedly first attacked the girl’s family, killing her mother and grandmother before taking the teenager to an isolated location, where she was allegedly murdered. Police further claim that he then returned to his own home and killed his wife, Saritha, along with their two young sons, aged around three and two years, before fleeing. The gruesome crime has sparked widespread outrage across Telangana, with many questioning how a person facing serious charges was able to secure bail. Multiple police teams continue to investigate the case while authorities await further developments regarding the accused’s condition.
