Secunderabad Gears Up for Bonalu: 2,500 Cops, 50 HD Cameras for Tight Security

To ensure a peaceful and secure Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu celebration in Secunderabad on July 13–14, police authorities have rolled out a massive security plan involving the deployment of 2,500 police personnel and installation of 50 high-definition CCTV cameras. North Zone DCP Reshmi Perumal stated that coordination meetings have been conducted with various departments and temple officials to finalize the arrangements. As per the plan, traditional ‘Jogins’ will be allowed to enter the temple between 1 PM and 3 PM from the Bata Showroom side, following their customs. Six organized queue lines have been arranged, including two special ones for women carrying ‘bonams’, with a maximum of five accompanying members allowed.

To maintain round-the-clock vigilance, the Mahankali police station has established a centralized control room. Specialized teams, including Dog Squads, Anti-Sabotage units, She Teams, and Crime Teams, will be patrolling to prevent theft, harassment, or any untoward incident during the festivities. More than 40 CCTV cameras have already been installed in and around the temple premises and procession routes, with live monitoring planned throughout the celebrations.

Highlighting the importance of public cooperation, DCP Reshmi urged devotees to follow instructions and security protocols to help facilitate smooth movement. The police will be focusing on crowd management, traffic diversions, and women’s safety in light of the large turnout expected during Bonalu. These elaborate preparations underline the significance of the Bonalu festival and the city’s commitment to upholding cultural traditions while ensuring safety and order.
