A gas cylinder explosion late Monday night caused a devastating building collapse in Medchal, claiming the life of one person and injuring three others. The blast occurred in the home of former MPTC member Murali, which also housed a mobile phone store and two flower shops. The powerful explosion brought down the structure, sending debris flying across the street in the busy market area.
Authorities reported that a pedestrian—whose identity had not been confirmed at the time—was fatally injured by the falling debris. The force of the blast was so intense that even the shutter of a shop across the street was damaged. Witnesses described the moment as chaotic, with sudden fire, smoke, and screams, followed by people rushing to help.
Among the injured were an elderly woman named Thirupathamma, and two others identified as Rafiq and Dinesh. All three were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kompally, where they are reported to be in stable condition. Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and assess the structural safety of surrounding buildings.
