The Ministry of Minority Affairs has announced that details of 7.99 lakh Waqf properties have been uploaded to the UMEED Central Portal-2025 as of August 7, marking a major step toward digitising and improving the management of Waqf assets across India. Uttar Pradesh leads the country with 1.52 lakh uploaded properties, followed by West Bengal (1.31 lakh). Other states with significant numbers include Kerala (79,929), Maharashtra (71,947), Telangana (63,982), and Karnataka (58,846). Delhi has completed the upload of 3,233 properties, while Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu reported only two listed Waqf properties.

The UMEED Central Portal was launched on June 6, 2025, following the implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, to provide a transparent digital platform for registering and managing Waqf properties. According to Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, all Waqf properties registered before the amended law came into effect are required to be uploaded to the portal. The government stated that the initiative is aimed at improving governance, maintaining accurate records, and increasing transparency in the administration of Waqf assets.

The Ministry acknowledged that users initially experienced technical challenges, including login delays, digitisation of legacy records, varying internet connectivity, and incomplete documentation. Officials said these issues were largely temporary and common across several states and Union Territories. As the six-month deadline approached and uploads increased significantly, the government expanded server capacity to ensure smoother functioning of the portal and support the growing volume of data submissions.
