Naidu unveils plan for South India’s first bullet train linking four major cities

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced that South India will soon witness the launch of a high-speed bullet train project connecting Hyderabad, Amaravati, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Speaking at the India Food Manufacturing Summit in Visakhapatnam, he said the ambitious project will serve over five crore people across the four metropolitan regions, positioning them as part of one of the largest consumer markets in the world. A preliminary survey for the project has already been initiated, underscoring the government’s intent to accelerate infrastructure development in the southern region.

Highlighting the transformative impact of the initiative, Naidu stated that the bullet train will not only revolutionize travel but also strengthen trade and logistics across South India. He emphasized that rapid connectivity between these key cities will reduce travel time drastically, boosting industrial growth, business opportunities, and economic integration. “Very soon, bullet train is going to come to South India. That is going to happen,” the CM said, reaffirming his government’s commitment to modern transport infrastructure.

In addition to the high-speed rail corridor, Naidu announced a parallel push to upgrade road infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh. He said the state will develop and maintain highways and even rural roads on par with international standards to complement the bullet train project. The Chief Minister added that such measures would not only improve mobility but also ensure efficient supply chains and logistics networks, paving the way for Andhra Pradesh and its neighboring states to become competitive global hubs in trade and commerce.
