A major tragedy was narrowly avoided in Suryapet district on Saturday when a speeding container lorry lost control and rammed into a roadside hotel at Indira Chowk, Huzurnagar. The vehicle, which was travelling from Kodad to Miryalaguda, suddenly veered off the main road and crashed into the establishment. Witnesses said that people inside the hotel noticed the lorry approaching and rushed out moments before impact, preventing what could have been a deadly accident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the area around the hotel was relatively empty at the time of the crash. However, the force of the collision caused significant damage to the hotel’s exterior and nearby property. Local authorities immediately reached the spot, diverted traffic, and removed the damaged vehicle from the road to restore movement. The driver is currently being questioned by police to determine whether brake failure or negligence caused the incident.
This is not the first time an accident has occurred at Indira Chowk. Residents say the narrow stretch and lack of traffic signals make it a frequent accident zone. Locals have urged the municipal authorities to widen the road and install proper traffic management systems to prevent similar mishaps in the future, emphasizing that negligence in addressing the issue could one day lead to a fatal outcome.
