Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Refuses to Resign Amid MUDA Scam Allegations

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reiterated that he will not resign amidst allegations of involvement in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. Siddaramaiah claims he has done nothing wrong and is working according to his conscience. He criticized opposition parties for demanding his resignation unnecessarily.

The controversy surrounds the allocation of compensatory sites to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, in an upmarket area of Mysuru. Parvathi has since offered to return the 14 sites, which the BJP has termed an “admission of guilt”. Siddaramaiah maintains that his wife’s decision to return the sites was made without his knowledge and was done to prevent further controversy.

Siddaramaiah has also defended himself against comparisons to former CM B.S. Yediyurappa’s case, stating that he has not denotified land or engaged in money laundering. The Karnataka High Court has upheld the sanction for a probe against Siddaramaiah, and the Enforcement Directorate has booked him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
