A tragic shooting incident in the U.S. state of Virginia claimed the lives of 56-year-old Pradipkumar Patel and his 24-year-old daughter at a convenience store on Lankford Highway in Accomack County. The father and daughter were working at the store when the attack occurred early in the morning on March 20. Deputies from the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene shortly after 5:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. As they searched the premises, they also found a wounded woman who was immediately rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities identified the suspect as 44-year-old George Frazier Devon Wharton from Onancock, Virginia. He was arrested later that day and is currently being held without bond at the Accomack County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation. The store owner, Paresh Patel, who identified the victims as his family members, expressed deep grief over the loss, stating that his cousin’s wife and her father were working at the store when they were senselessly attacked.
