The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has suspended the FSSAI licence of Hotel Shadab’s Madina Circle branch following a large-scale food safety inspection that uncovered multiple hygiene and safety violations. During a special enforcement drive, nine teams of food safety officials and police personnel inspected 19 cafes and restaurants across Hyderabad. Authorities also ordered the closure of Dreamz Cafeteria in Bagh Lingampally and Asiatic Cafe in Punjagutta after finding that both establishments were operating without valid FSSAI licences or registrations.

Inspecting officials reported several serious violations at Hotel Shadab, including poor sanitation, improper storage and handling of meat and other food items, and unhygienic kitchen conditions. Across the inspected establishments, authorities found expired food products, open dustbins in food preparation areas, food handlers working without protective headgear, and breaches of food labelling regulations. Officials also noted housefly and cockroach infestations at some locations, while food items exposed to dust and insects were discarded immediately. In addition, products suspected of adulteration, including tea powder and ginger-garlic paste, were seized for further examination.

TG SAFE collected 15 food samples for laboratory analysis and announced that improvement notices would be issued to 12 establishments found violating food safety norms. Show-cause notices have also been served to Hotel Shadab, Dreamz Cafeteria, Asiatic Cafe and several other outlets, with authorities warning that stricter action, including financial penalties and further legal measures, could follow depending on the inspection results and the establishments’ responses. Officials said follow-up inspections will be conducted to ensure that all identified violations are rectified before any further decisions are taken.
