Thousands of commuters across Hyderabad faced major disruptions on Saturday, September 26, as traffic restrictions linked to the ongoing Ganesh idol immersion processions continued for a second consecutive day. Roads around Tank Bund, Hussain Sagar, Necklace Road, NTR Marg, PV Statue, and the Old City remained closed or heavily barricaded, leaving office-goers, schoolchildren, patients, and healthcare workers stranded. Many residents complained that the restrictions were extended without prior public notice, forcing them to take long detours or abandon their journeys altogether.

Public transport services were also severely affected, with several TSRTC buses being diverted due to road closures. Passengers reported confusion as bus drivers themselves were unaware of the latest traffic diversions. Many commuters had to get off midway and rely on the Hyderabad Metro or other transport to reach their destinations. Parents also reported that several schoolchildren were sent back home after autorickshaw drivers were unable to cross police barricades near immersion routes.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said the Ganesh immersion procession was progressing peacefully but acknowledged that the massive turnout of devotees and vehicles had delayed the immersion schedule. He urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel through the affected areas until the process concludes. Authorities have continued traffic restrictions to ensure the safe movement of immersion processions, while residents have appealed for better advance communication and timely traffic updates to minimize inconvenience.
