FSSAI Approves Legal Action Against Dodla Dairy Over Milk Safety Violations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has approved legal action against Dodla Dairy Limited after laboratory tests allegedly detected detergent or caustic soda in a sample of the company’s full-cream milk. According to the food safety regulator, the sample was also found to contain fat levels below the minimum standards prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The findings prompted FSSAI to classify the product as unsafe and initiate prosecution proceedings against the company.

FSSAI stated that the milk sample was initially examined by food safety authorities and was declared substandard because of its low fat content. Following an appeal by the food business operator, the sample was sent to a referral laboratory for a second analysis. The confirmatory test reportedly detected the presence of detergent or caustic soda while also reaffirming that the fat content did not meet regulatory requirements. Based on these findings, the regulator granted permission to proceed with legal action for violations related to food safety and quality standards.

The regulator has also initiated proceedings against several other food companies, including Surya Food and Agro Limited, the manufacturer of Priyagold biscuits, and UEIR Organic Foods Private Limited, over alleged food safety violations. Notices have additionally been issued to Narpadham Foods, Sun Ridges Health Cares and Shah Kantilal Jayantilal. FSSAI said it remains committed to taking strict action against food safety violations and emphasized that ensuring the quality and safety of food products remains a top priority for protecting public health.
