Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh Attacked Near Osmania University, Files Police Complaint

Tension gripped Tarnaka on Sunday evening after Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh was allegedly attacked by a group of unidentified individuals near Osmania University. The MLA was en route to Manikeshwari Nagar to attend a Bonalu-related event when several men on motorcycles intercepted his vehicle near RTC Hospital. Reports suggest that the assailants, believed to be intoxicated, physically assaulted both the MLA and his personal security officer (PSO), triggering panic in the area.

Following the incident, MLA Sri Ganesh immediately proceeded to the Osmania University police station and lodged a formal complaint. A senior police official confirmed the receipt of the complaint and stated that a detailed inquiry is underway. “We are verifying the facts and based on the outcome, strict action will be initiated against those responsible,” the official noted. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but initial statements indicate possible misbehavior by drunk individuals.

The assault comes during the ongoing Bonalu festivities, a time of heightened public activity in Hyderabad. The event has raised concerns about security arrangements for public representatives. Police have reportedly begun reviewing CCTV footage in the area and collecting witness statements to identify the attackers. As investigations continue, the incident has sparked discussions on the safety of elected officials and the need for better law enforcement presence during local celebrations.
