Blazing Wildfire Near Jerusalem Sparks National Emergency, Thousands Flee

A massive wildfire erupted near Jerusalem on Thursday, prompting a swift national emergency declaration by Israeli authorities. Fanned by scorching temperatures and strong winds, the flames rapidly approached residential areas and critical infrastructure, forcing the evacuation of over five communities. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the situation as a “national emergency” and directed emergency forces to prioritize the protection of Jerusalem at all costs.

Fire and Rescue Commissioner Eyal Caspi confirmed the activation of Israel’s national emergency response plan, calling the blaze one of the most intense in the country’s history. More than 120 firefighting teams, backed by aerial support, have been deployed from across the country to battle the inferno. Authorities have begun constructing firebreaks in key zones to contain the rapidly spreading flames.

Thousands of residents have been displaced as emergency shelters and medical aid are being arranged. With more areas on high alert, officials urge residents to remain vigilant and prepared for immediate evacuation. The government continues to monitor the situation closely, with additional reinforcements expected to arrive in the coming hours.
