BJP’s Deepak Reddy Files Nomination for Jubilee Hills Bypoll Amid Massive Party Rally

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lankala Deepak Reddy officially filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election on Tuesday, October 21, before the Shaikpet Returning Officer. The nomination event was marked by a large rally led by key BJP figures, including ministers Bandi Sanjay Kumar and G. Kishan Reddy, who joined supporters in a show of strength. The rally, which passed through several areas of the constituency, drew a considerable crowd as party cadres aimed to project confidence ahead of the November 11 polling date.

Deepak Reddy had previously contested the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections from the same constituency, securing 25,866 votes, which accounted for 14.11 percent of the total votes polled. He had lost to BRS candidate Maganti Gopinath, whose death in June 2025 led to the by-election. With the BJP hoping to make inroads in Hyderabad’s urban segments, the party’s renewed push in Jubilee Hills is being viewed as part of its larger strategy to strengthen its urban vote base in Telangana, particularly in constituencies traditionally dominated by BRS and Congress.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Naveen Yadav and BRS nominee Maganti Sunitha — widow of late MLA Gopinath — have already filed their nominations. As per the Election Commission’s schedule, scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on October 22, and withdrawals will be accepted till October 24. The polling for the by-election is set for November 11, with vote counting on November 14 and the election process concluding by November 16. Political analysts believe that this bypoll will serve as an early indicator of Hyderabad’s shifting political mood ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
