Hyderabad witnessed another dangerous episode of bike stunts on Wednesday night, August 6, when youngsters were seen performing “wheelies” on the Aramghar flyover. The incident, captured on video and shared widely across social media platforms, showed two boys risking their lives and distracting commuters with reckless maneuvers. Despite multiple warnings and tragic incidents in the past, these acts continue unabated on this high-speed stretch, raising serious concerns among citizens and authorities.
Earlier this year, tragedy had struck the same location when three teenage boys — 14-year-old Maaz, 16-year-old Imran, and 14-year-old Ahmed — lost their lives in a deadly road accident during a late-night joyride on the Aramghar flyover. The minors were reportedly riding a two-wheeler at high speed from the Old City side when they lost control and crashed into a streetlight pole and the median. While Maaz died on the spot, the other two succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. The incident had prompted a wave of public outcry and renewed scrutiny of underage and reckless driving in the city.
In response to repeated violations and loss of lives, Hyderabad Traffic Police have issued stern warnings and increased patrolling on accident-prone stretches like Aramghar. Authorities have stated that stunts not only endanger those performing them but also pose a serious risk to fellow commuters. Strict legal action has been promised against individuals performing or promoting such behavior, including on social media platforms. Special teams have been deployed to monitor these stretches, but the challenge remains significant as such thrill-seeking behavior continues to persist among city youth.
