The Election Commission of India is set to announce the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections today at 4 PM. This much-awaited declaration follows an extensive two-day review of the state’s poll preparedness conducted in Patna. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, reviewed critical aspects such as security deployment, logistics management, and enforcement measures to ensure that the election process remains free, fair, and transparent.
During the meetings, the Election Commission held detailed discussions with top Bihar government officials, law enforcement authorities, and district election officers. The review sessions focused on crucial elements including the handling and safety of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), rationalisation of polling stations, training modules for election staff, and strategies to prevent inducements and violations of the Model Code of Conduct. The Commission also evaluated arrangements to make the electoral process accessible and inclusive for all sections of society.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to uphold democratic principles, stating that elections in Bihar would be conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner. He emphasised that voter awareness campaigns will play a significant role in ensuring maximum participation and credibility of the process. With the announcement expected later today, all eyes are now on the Election Commission as Bihar prepares for one of the most closely watched electoral contests of the year.
