Violence broke out in Hyderabad’s Attapur and Jalpally areas on Sunday night following a dispute over cattle transportation. According to reports, two DCM vehicles transporting animal remains to a slaughterhouse in Jalpally were intercepted by a mob near Wambay Colony, located on the RGI Airport Cargo Road. The group allegedly assaulted the drivers, poured fuel on the vehicles, and set them on fire. Local police responded quickly and attempted to control the situation with a lathi charge, but were met with stone pelting from miscreants. Several police personnel sustained injuries during the clash.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, who visited the scene, confirmed that the incident occurred around 9:30 PM. He stated that an FIR has been registered and strict action is being taken. In a separate incident, another group of individuals stopped a cattle-laden vehicle coming from Bahadurpura near Rajendranagar and beat up the driver. The vehicle was damaged, but police managed to bring the situation under control before further escalation. Fire services from Chandrayangutta and Rajendranagar responded and extinguished the burning vehicles.
Later in the night, tension escalated at NM Guda junction where two groups gathered, leading to renewed clashes and stone pelting. Several officers were injured in the violence. In response, Hyderabad Police deployed additional forces to assist their Cyberabad counterparts. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and warned that any attempts to disturb communal harmony will be dealt with firmly under the law. Security in the affected areas has been heightened, and police presence remains strong.
