Heavy Rain Lashes Hyderabad with Thunderstorms and Strong Winds; More Rain Expected Over the Next Three Days

Several areas of Hyderabad experienced sudden, intense rainfall on Friday, accompanied by strong winds and loud thunderstorms. Dense clouds had been looming over the city since noon, and by afternoon, gusty winds swept through various localities, eventually culminating in heavy downpours. The sudden burst of rain brought traffic in many areas to a standstill, causing massive jams and commuter chaos. Citizens, already grappling with rising temperatures, were caught off guard by the abrupt weather shift.

According to the Meteorological Department, Telangana is expected to witness more bouts of rain over the next three days, even as temperatures continue to climb. A rise of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is anticipated across the state, potentially increasing the intensity of the summer heat. Simultaneously, intermittent rainfall, thunder, lightning, and dust storms are forecast in several districts, including Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Warangal, and Mahbubnagar. The weather agency has issued a yellow alert for these districts and advised residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

This unpredictability in weather patterns has left people in a state of confusion and concern. While scorching sun and intense heat continue to affect most regions, other districts are bracing for sporadic rain and storm activity. On Saturday and Sunday, areas such as Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Nagarkurnool may also see localized downpours. The authorities urge everyone to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and prepare for sudden weather changes during this transitional phase of the season.
