The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has announced that all slaughterhouses and retail beef shops within its limits will remain shut on March 14, in view of the Hindu festival of Holi. The GHMC Commissioner, Ilambarithi, has also requested the police commissionerate to issue instructions to officers to assist the corporation staff in ensuring the implementation of the order.
This decision is likely to affect the supply of beef in the city, as all licensed slaughterhouses and beef shops will remain closed. However, it is unclear whether this order will also apply to other non-vegetarian meat shops or if they will be allowed to operate as usual.
[news_related_post]The move is seen as a precautionary measure to maintain communal harmony and avoid any potential conflicts during the festive season. The GHMC’s decision is in line with similar measures taken in the past to ensure peaceful celebrations of festivals in the city.
