Chaos Erupts in Rajya Sabha Over Cash Found on Congress MP’s Seat

A major controversy unfolded in Rajya Sabha today after a bundle of cash was discovered on the seat allocated to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who also chairs the House, revealed that security personnel found the cash during a routine anti-sabotage check conducted after yesterday’s adjournment. Singhvi, whose seat was implicated, categorically denied any connection to the incident, stating he carries only ₹500 to the House and spent only three minutes there before leaving for the canteen.

The BJP seized the opportunity to criticize the Congress party, with leaders like Sudhanshu Trivedi alleging that the opposition party’s history of corruption could explain such incidents. Meanwhile, Singhvi expressed disbelief over the situation, calling it a “bizarre” attempt to politicize an issue without evidence. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge supported a probe but objected to Singhvi being publicly named during the investigation.

The incident has raised questions about parliamentary security and decorum, with MPs from both sides demanding a thorough inquiry. As allegations and counter-allegations fly, the event has become a flashpoint in the ongoing battle between the ruling and opposition parties, further polarizing the political climate in the country.
