Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has thrown his support behind the proposed Navy radar station in Vikarabad district’s Damagundam forest, urging Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to allow locals to access the site due to its sentimental value. The project, which includes a compound wall around 2,900 acres of forest, has faced opposition from some groups.
Revanth emphasized the importance of national security, stating that politics should not be played in this space. He highlighted Hyderabad’s strategic location for defence, citing the presence of establishments like the Ordinance Factory and Nuclear Fuel Complex. The chief minister also referenced the INS Kattabomman Radar Station in Tamil Nadu, which was established in 1990 without harming local residents.

He assured that the forest and ecology would be protected and requested that one-third of admissions to upcoming educational institutions in the area be reserved for local students. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the project on October 15.
