A powerful explosion at a scrap shop in Hyderabad’s Ramanthapur created panic on Sunday after a fire broke out during metal-cutting work. The incident occurred in Church Colony, where the blast quickly engulfed the shop in flames. Local residents alerted emergency services, and two fire engines rushed to the spot to control the blaze. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control after an intensive operation, while cooling measures continued to prevent the flames from reigniting.
The shop owner, identified as Parshuram, suffered nearly 70 percent burn injuries in the explosion. He was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors stated that his condition remains critical. According to fire department officials, the emergency call was received around 11:15 AM, and teams responded without delay. Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the explosion, and the total extent of property damage is still being assessed.
Officials have launched an investigation to determine whether the blast was triggered by an accident during metal-cutting operations or by another factor. Fire department personnel and local authorities are examining the site for evidence before releasing a final report. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety standards in scrap yards and workshops dealing with hazardous materials, highlighting the need for stricter precautions to prevent similar accidents in the future.
