Nepalese authorities have issued a fresh flood alert for several districts across the eastern, central, and western regions of the country following forecasts of rising river levels and heavy rainfall. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) warned that people living near rivers, streams, and flood-prone areas should remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Officials said there is a high risk of flash floods in the districts of Nuwakot and Rasuwa, where water levels in smaller rivers and streams are expected to increase rapidly.
The advisory also highlights a moderate risk of flash floods and rising water levels in several eastern and central districts, including Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchok, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, and Dhading. Authorities have urged local administrations to closely monitor weather conditions, keep emergency response teams on standby, and ensure that residents in vulnerable areas are informed about the evolving situation.
In western Nepal, flood alerts have been issued for Gorkha, Lamjung, Dolpa, Rukum East, Rukum West, Jajarkot, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Doti, Kailali, and Kanchanpur districts. Disaster management officials have advised the public to avoid crossing swollen rivers, remain updated through official weather bulletins, and cooperate with emergency authorities if evacuation becomes necessary. The latest warning comes as Nepal continues to face heightened flood risks during the ongoing monsoon season.
