Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to embark on his first official foreign visit since assuming office, travelling to the United Kingdom from September 10 to September 16. During the six-day visit, the Chief Minister will hold a series of meetings with business leaders and investors to promote Tamil Nadu as a preferred destination for industrial and capital investments. The outreach is aimed at attracting new projects that can boost manufacturing, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the state’s economy.
The investment mission comes at a time when southern states are actively competing to secure major domestic and international investments. Alongside the UK visit, the Tamil Nadu government is expanding its global engagement through other initiatives. A state delegation led by Minister Keerthana will travel to Taiwan on September 4 to participate in the Semicon conference, where officials are expected to interact with leading semiconductor companies and explore opportunities for collaboration in advanced manufacturing and technology sectors.
The Chief Minister’s visit also coincides with the implementation of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which came into effect on July 15, 2026. The agreement is expected to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two countries, providing fresh opportunities for businesses on both sides. State officials believe the improved trade framework will help Tamil Nadu attract greater foreign investment, encourage industrial expansion, and reinforce its position as one of India’s leading manufacturing hubs.
