Newborn’s Body Recovered from Government Hospital Toilet in Thiruvananthapuram

Police have launched an investigation after the body of a newborn was recovered from the toilet tank of the SAT Government Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday night when hospital staff noticed bloodstains on the clothes of a woman, believed to be around 20 years old, after she came out of the hospital restroom. She had been admitted to the hospital with heavy bleeding, prompting staff to question her about her condition.

According to preliminary findings, investigators suspect the woman delivered the baby inside the hospital toilet before allegedly disposing of the newborn by flushing it into the toilet. During questioning, the woman reportedly claimed that the child had been aborted. Hospital authorities immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene and began collecting evidence. The body of the newborn was later recovered from the toilet tank for further examination.

Police have registered a case and are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and establish whether any criminal offence was committed. Officials said statements are being recorded from the woman, hospital staff and other witnesses, while the post-mortem examination is expected to provide crucial information regarding the birth and cause of the newborn’s death. Authorities have stated that further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
