A disturbing case of alleged infant trafficking has surfaced in Telangana’s Medak district, where a hospital nurse reportedly sold a newborn baby girl for ₹1.5 lakh after falsely informing the mother that the child had died. According to police, the victim, Nasra Fatima, who was seven months pregnant, suffered severe bleeding after reportedly falling during a monkey attack while travelling to Secunderabad. She was rushed to a local hospital in Medak, where doctors performed surgery and delivered the baby.
Police said nurse Aktari Begum allegedly informed the family that the newborn had died shortly after birth. However, days later, the mother reportedly received information from an unidentified person claiming that her baby was alive. Suspecting foul play, the family approached the police and lodged a complaint, which triggered an investigation into the shocking incident.
During the probe, police discovered that the nurse had allegedly handed over the baby to an intermediary identified as Nasin Unnisa, who then sold the infant to a couple from Siddipet for ₹1.5 lakh. Authorities arrested the nurse, the intermediary, and the couple accused of purchasing the child. Police confirmed that the newborn girl was rescued safely and stated that further investigation into the trafficking network is currently underway.
