Hyderabad: The road stretch between Shaheen Nagar and Pahadi Shareef has deteriorated into a perilous route, with massive potholes posing a serious threat to daily commuters. Residents say the condition of the road worsened drastically after the recent monsoon, leaving deep craters that make driving both difficult and dangerous. “If repairs are not carried out immediately, accidents will become inevitable,” warned Asif Shareef, a resident of Wadi-e-Saleheen, emphasizing the urgent need for restoration before a fatal mishap occurs.
This particular stretch serves as a crucial link between Chandrayangutta, the Old City, and the Hyderabad International Airport, resulting in heavy daily traffic of taxis, private vehicles, and commercial transport. The deteriorated surface has not only slowed movement but also increased fuel consumption and vehicle damage. “Passengers often ask us to avoid this road altogether, but taking alternate routes means longer travel time and higher fares,” said Mohammed Fayyaz, a local taxi driver frustrated by the poor road conditions.
The damaged road falls under the jurisdiction of the Jalpally Municipality, where AIMIM holds the majority. Despite regular budget allocations for infrastructure improvement, residents allege that civic works are either delayed or poorly executed, leaving the public to suffer. Locals have demanded that authorities prioritize the repair work and hold contractors accountable for substandard execution. With traffic growing denser each day, the neglected road now stands as a stark example of administrative failure and the pressing need for better urban maintenance in Hyderabad’s outskirts.
